Shadow of Mordor vs. Destiny for D.I.C.E. Game of the Year

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 18th annual D.I.C.E. Awards that will be held in Las Vegas early next month.
A total of 56 games were nominated including Shadow of Mordor leads the pack with nine nominations, including the Game of the Year. Other nominees were Destiny, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Far Cry 4, and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
Other games who were receiving multiple nominations including Far Cry 4, Destiny and Hearthstone, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Monument Valley, and Infamous: Second Son, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
A new category was announced this year, the D.I.C.E. Sprite Award, and it will go to a game that has “disproportionate resources for development and exposure (compared to AAA titles), represents a higher degree of risk tolerance, and advances our industry with innovative gameplay and experiences.” Nominees for the D.I.C.E. award are The Banner Saga, Hohokum, Monument Valley, Threes!, and Transistor.
A list of all the nominees is below. The show will be on Thursday February 5, 2015 7 P.M. PDT.
