Umg Nashville Teams Overview
Leading into this weekend's final Umg event of the COD Ghosts season, we see teams in this final week buckling down. But who will be the victor? Here's what I think of several of the pro teams status going into the weekend.
Evil Geniuses (EG)- The juggernaut team once undefeated for consecutive events, have alot to prove this weekend. Lead by the ever so charming "sarcasm exudes" Pat "Aches" Price, they aim to show that they're still the best. The past few events EG has not lived up to their rap, taking 3rd place at XGames and an abismal Gfinity performance, willWill the World Champs bounce back this weekend? Honestly I do not think so. Their battling the loss of Karma and have struggled to secure a spot in the season 3 league playoffs without success. I felt that if EG would have secured their league spot, that maybe there was a chance for them to take this event, however, they did not. While their anger may help them blow past a few teams, I think that given a map loss or even worse a match loss, the champs may start to spiral to the bottom of the standings.
Optic Gaming- XGames gold medalists and fan favorites Optic Gaming come into the weekend prepared to take on all challengers. After an intense few weeks at the Red Bull training facility in santa barbara, ca, the boys on Opticsharpened their skills and team chemistry. The million dollar question on my mind is can the team truly mesh together? Yes they won XGames but will Proofy step up this weekend? His Ghosts run has been probably his most inconsistent season of his competitive COD career. I think Optic's keys to success are making sure proofy shows up. If proofy goes off, Optic may find themselves in contention for another championship. If not, well, at least they had a vacation in Santa Barbara!
Optic Nation- The team that everyone knows rules in SND but equally counts out in respawns is hungry for a championship. lead by OBJ player Mboze, Nation has outplaced their brother team, Optic Gaming, at the last 2 events! Even going a step farther and knocking Gaming out of contention at UMG Dallas. But does Nation have what it takes to win a championship? We we know Killa and Miracles (mirx) the duo fro the successful Impact team during black ops 2 does. What about the other half of the team? To me nations success rides on 2 things Ricky and SND. If they can keep Ricky in a positive move, as well as, force Game 5s, I think they can become champions. All they have to do is channel this year's COD Champs runner ups nV. If they can force a game 5, they might just stay alive!
Team Envyus- So whats in sore for the Gfinity Champs and Umg Dalls Runner ups? Out of all os the tems this weekend, I believe nV has one of the strongest teams heading into Nashville. Since the addition of JKap and Foral, the nV boys have dropped a total of 8 maps in the last 2 events. 1 map from Nation at Gfinity, anthor map from nation at Dallas (both SND maps) and 6 maps from Dallas Champions Denial. So what obstacles will nV face? Teams determined for a win! But I have faith that the Boys in Blue will probably end up 1 or 2.
Denial- Dallas champions Denial Esports set out to prove that Dallas was not a fluke. Coming into the weekend as one of the most prepared teams, they might just have everyone on their heels playing catch up. This fast paced, energetic team of Replays, Zooma, Saints and Studyy have not missed a beat since their last championship. Appearing in the finals of the last 5 2k/5k's , having won 3 of them, However, impressive Denials consistent Sunday dominance has seemed, that Denial squad has not been translating over into the season 3 league, leaving them too close to the edge. Denial has locked themselves into the league playoffs and can now focus on Nashville. This weekend sould be a breeze, but this time they may have to face EG!
FaZe- What team has 2 world champions and 2 National champions? The revamped FaZe team that's who. Fazehas something going into the weekend that alot of teams wanted, 2 time World Champion Karma! Karma left EG and was traded to Faze for Dedo, where he teams up with former Impact team mate Paraste. The team is finished off with captain Censor and Apathy of the formerly Strictly business lineup. This FaZe team on paper has alot of potential to be great but, can they win Nashville? It certainly is possible with the skills of one of the more talented players Karma, the intelligenc of Parasite an the explosive plays of Apathy, they can definitely contend. For FaZe to become victorous they need Censor to play well and Parasite to stay focus and get along with Karma. Apathy is Mr. Consistent and you never have to worry about Karma. So if Censor plays well and Parasite stays at bay, FaZe can leave Nashville with a trophy on Sunday.
Most Wanted- This team surprised alot of people at UMG Dallas tking out a juggernaut team in Optic Nation, but, eventually falling sort to the powerhouse nV team sweeping through (literally 3-0 ing everyone besides Nation and Denial). I think this Most Wanted team of Spacely, Slacked, Classic and Huhdle can make another huge splash this weekend. Can they win the whole? Probably not, but they can give alot of teams a run for their money. Most Wanted's erratic play style makes them hard to predict andtheir high paced tempo keeps other teams stubbling back. However, once the pace of the gae slows down, MW can;t hang around. Having to play strats and not purely instincts makes MW a team that can easliy be derailed.
Team Kaliber - The last team i;m going to go over is TK. I think my analysis of the top teams have been prett fair up untl this point. TK fans don't hate me but I honestly do not believe TK can win or even contend for a championship. Hear me out, there's something about this teams chemistry that doesnt bode well for them. Yes, from black ops 2 to the beginning of Ghosts they were consitently 2nd behind EG (formerly coL), but I feel that was because teams were constantly changing while TK and EG stayed the same. Since then with the exception of a impressive run at XGames, TK has just scraped the bottom of the standings. Furthermore, nothing that I have seen from them in League matches shifts my opinion. They are stil a pro team and still have a chance at winning, but fr this writer if you're banking on TK, it may not be your day!
That's my overview of some of the top pro teams attending this weekend's UMG Nashville tournament. Some other teams to note are Rise, Curse and Noble Vanquish who can all go far in the tournament, but I dont believe they can win.
